Joslyn's Early Birthday Party

let me explain... My daughter was born on December 22nd... enough explanation right?! Well there is more. So Cory and I are leaving at different times to fly to Oklahoma for the Holidays. This year we are going to spend time with my family. But due to Cory's work schedule and that my mom begged for me to stay for a long time to help her get ready for last minute christmas stuff Cory won't be around on the 22nd when Josie officially turns one. Well because my nature is to please everyone and I feel bad no matter what i do, I wanted to at least celebrate Josie's birth in Idaho so her father can witness the whole opening presents and digging into the cake. SO on December 9th we did a little family get together for Josie's early owl Birthday party.

You see this whole year we kind of did an owl theme for Joslyn, and so we got her a charm to make an owl bracelet (thanks mom), she dressed up as a owl for halloween, I made her an owl beanie to keep her warm, so naturally we had to do an owl birthday. My friend Jen knows how to digital scrapbook and she made jose a cute invitation that I was able to send out to everyone... I attempted making an owl cake and cory frosted the owl cupcakes. we made Josie a birthday owl banner, and owl gift bags for her cousins, and she had a blast.

I want to thank everyone who came to her party. I know its more for me than anything else, but I appreciate all the love and support from everyone. I just love this little girl of mine! enjoy the pictures....

I am Thankful!

Now that I am serving in the YW I get to teach and listen to other lessons that are amazing. Last week was on optimism. After the wonderful lesson that our president gave I decided to be more optimistic and complain less... lets just say that on day 1 I failed that new goal. I had a self-pity moment that lasted about 2 in a half days. Eventually I got through this week and I was able to get last minute items done for Joslyn's early 1 year birthday party (I will post about her party soon).

I'm trying to prepare for this Sunday's lesson for my girls and it's on Gratitude and Appreciation. Perfect.... I failed last weeks lesson so maybe round two I can be better. Well I cam across a wonderful poem from sugardoodle.net and the poem was talking about my house and pathetic trials, but is how I ought to be thinking more. I hope you all enjoy it, it really lifted me spirit up!

Lord, thank you for this sink of dirty dishes;

We have plenty of food to eat.

Thank you for this pile of dirty, stinky laundry;

We have plenty of nice clothes to wear.

And I would like to thank you, Lord, for those unmade beds;

They were so warm and comfortable last night.

I know that many have no bed.

My thanks to you, Lord, for this bathroom,

Complete with all the splattered mirrors, soggy, grimy towels and dirty lavatory;

They are so convenient.

Thank you for this finger-smudged refrigerator that needs defrosting so badly;

It has served us faithfully for many years.

It is full of cold drinks and enough leftovers for two or three meals.

Thank you, Lord, for this oven that absolutely must be cleaned today.

It has baked so many things over the years.

The whole family is grateful for that tall grass that needs mowing,

The lawn that needs raking;

We all enjoy the yard.

Thank you, Lord, even for that slamming screen door.

My kids are healthy and able to run and play.

Lord, the presence of all these chores awaiting me says

You have richly blessed my family.

I shall do them cheerfully and I shall do them gratefully.

we shoveled all this by hand! than bought a snow blower! ha ha

Joslyn is 11 months old!

I know it is ridiculous posting her being 11 months old. But the first year has the most changes and I'm doing this more for me so I don't forget all that she did in her first year. I promise not to be so crazy and post month by month once Joslyn turns one!

But here are her stats:
I weighed her at her best-a-mama's house: 16. 2 pounds (so she hasn't really gained any weight)
she loves to pretend that she is walking all over the place, but she has to be holding on to something or someone. I have witnessed her standing all by herself for a whole 10 seconds and then she just sat herself down. So I know she will be walking by herself soon but I think we will try to be patient and let her decide when she wants to. she loves to dance, and yell gibberish. She is the entertainment at dinner time at the Sayre household. She loves playing with cousins and friends. She think knocking a water bottle off the coffee table is the most hilarious thing in the world. She loves climbing up stairs (but can't figure out how to go down correctly). Well that sums up her 11 month mark. one more month and then the big birthday! I will be posting her party pictures soon because I have to celebrate her birthday before we fly out to Oklahoma, since Cory is leaving later than us. I want him to be a part of her first birthday ever! so stay tuned!

4 Years and going!

Today is our Anniversary! Cory is working the day shift at the hospital so we decided to celebrate on saturday. It was a lot of fun!.... well let me start from the beginning.

Friday night we got invited to watch the midnight show of the new Harry Potter movie in Blackfoot for free! So Joslyn went to the Robbins for her first sleep over, and Cory and I watched the movie. It was amazing, but long! We didn't get home until 4:00AM! Josie wakes up at 6:00AM so I went over to the Robbins to pick her up and nurse her. Lets just say I wasn't a very good mother that morning being sleep deprived.

I finally got up and started getting ready around 9:30 AM. Cory left the house, and I started to get ready for his surprise date. I love it when he's gone so I can try and look my best for him. My sister in law offered to watch Josie while we went out..... Well I reserved us private dancing lessons to learn the argentine tango. That is his favorite dance to watch on dancing with the stars, plus he served his mission in argentina.

I have to say I loved dancing with him, and having him take charge in that type of dance. Cory has always been a great dancer so I knew I would have fun with him, but this exceeded my expectations. when we got home he surprised me with my presents: picture frames to hang from the rod he bought me last year along with 4 roses. Later that night we went out to dinner with some friends to wrap it up.

It was a fun day to celebrate 4 wonderful years with Cory. Happy Anniversary!

Learning to Crochet

Joslyn grew out of her awesome infant beanie, and since it was starting to get cold again, I figured it was time to get her another one, but I wanted to make it since I have time now. Well I went etsy.com and saw some stinkin cute owl beanies and instantly wanted one for Joslyn. They were running anywhere from $25- $35 for one kid beanie. So I bought a pattern for $4! It took me a week to make it because I had to visit youtube a lot and learn how to do all the different stitches. Plus I visited two elderly ladies from church that were nice enough to help me and give me some tips along the project. I thought it turned out pretty good. Now I wanted to learn how to make baby mittens that will match her hat. It's been a lot of fun learning how to crochet. I feel like I have an actual useful skill now.

Its Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas!

Sunday night we ate dinner with my in-laws. Before we let to go home Cory said, "It smells like its going to snow". Well all day yesterday it snowed. While it was snowing Cory couldn't help himself, but he went to Pandoras music online and played Christmas music. I know I know it's not after Thanksgiving, but Cory and I love the snow, and Christmas. We just get soo excited with the first snow fall of winter.

Happy Halloween

I kept going back and forth on whether I was going to take Josie Trick-or-treating. I mean people know the candy won't be for her, and I don't want that candy around to tempt me. Well my mom as you know made Josie an awesome Owl costume, and Josie used it a lot this month. She used it when she went to Jen's Pizza Halloween party, she used it when my sister in law and I took the kids to see Melaleuca's trick-or-treating, and again at the Snake River Landing trick-or-treating.

The last two places looked at me funny like where is your treat bag. And when 6:00PM came on Oct. 30th and I saw little kids walking down the streets with their parents, I couldn't help it. I said to myself " who cares what others think, I'm going trick-or-treating with my daughter". I figured if anything this will be good exposure for her.

So I waited patiently for my husband to get home from work, and as soon as Cory got home we left. It was soo much fun! The weather was perfect, everyone gave us the good candy since they knew the parents would be eating most of the candy, and everyone loved seeing Josie in her costume! the best part was Cory. He was soo proud to be with his daughter and to do this with her. I kept asking him if he would like me to carry her, and he wouldn't give her up. So the two of them went door to door to the houses that we knew while mom took some pictures!

Happy Halloween!

Beware of Dusting!

I asked Cory to remove our two window ac units awhile ago. Well when he removed them I noticed that the windowsills were filthy. So today while Cory was out pheasant hunting I decided to clean the two windowsills up and since I was doing that I decided to clean the blinds too. So I grabbed a bowl and went to town. I was almost done when the very top faux wood thing that covers the top of the blinds fell down and smacked me in the mouth. It knocked my front tooth completely out (the one I just got a crown put on). Right when that happened Cory came home and I told him to make sure Brom didn't come in the kitchen because I was still searching for my tooth and I didn't want him to swallow it up.

When I called the dentist they luckily had an appointment call and cancel so they were able to squeeze me in. Thank goodness because I didn't want to look like the wife of Bubba for Halloween all week long! My dentist says he is going to make me a mouth guard for the next time I need to dust the blinds! So beware of dusting!

Josie's 10 months old!

Josie has three teeth in now. her two front bottoms, and now her top front one. she likes to say "da da", "ma ma", "no", "owe", and we are working on "dog". she likes to make noises out of her mouth while she wiggles her tongue from side to side, and she like to shake her head no but she doesn't say "no" when doing it. again another thing we are working on. and just recently she has been starting to dance a little when music is on. Oh my word I love this girl!

Halloween fun with the kids!

My Father in law asked me to talk with my sister in laws and get stuff together so we could eat dinner, possibly catch a hunted house, whatever before they left to go to AZ. I was really excited since I just went to a kid halloween party at my friends house so I had some ideas but I was nervous on whether or not I would have everything ready within two days. Well with the help of my lovely sister in laws and a good friend I think the kids ended up having a blast. Thanks everyone for all your help!

October!

I honestly thought that becoming a stay at home mom life would slow down. NOPE! I am not complaining one bit though. I am loving it... This month so far there has been tons of riding, hanging with family, a wedding, and Josie just got her owl costume in the mail today from her grandma so we had her try it on. Enjoy the pictures!

9 months old!

Joslyn is 9 months old today! crazy! She has progressed probably the most this past month. She has been crawling, gone up steps, pulled herself up, started being comical (on purpose), had another tooth come in, and jabbering about who knows what. I mean I feel like I woke up and a different more busy girl is in front of me. One of her favorite things to do right now is to be funny she will look up with her eyes and shake her had no really fast, every once in awhile she will add in a circular movement with the no. ha ha ha.

We went to the Dr. Apt. I have to say so far the 9 month appointment is the best by far. NO SHOTS! But we couldn't go to the doctor we normally see because he was on vacation. And every time we go to another doctor they make me feel bad for Josie being small. I like Dr. Olson because he reassures me that Josie is just petite. Well we decided to try Dr. Petit again. He was the Dr. that saw Josie when she was first born. Well we have heard that he may not be the best with parents but he's great with kids. Since I never got to see him work on Josie I decided to try him out and see what he is like with Josie. Well I have to say he is one goofy guy, but seemed to want to make Josie happy and safe. His nurse gave us these stats:

  • weight: 14 pounds 15 oz.
  • height: 26 inches

The Doctor didn't like that Josie has dropped from the 5th percentile to the 1 percentile. He even suggested me feeding her milkshakes. He also didn't like knowing that I'm feeding her food from my plate instead of baby food. But She won't eat the baby food from the jars, and it's not like I give her big bites, I cut it up and I'm with her to make sure she doesn't choke. And I feed her tell she wont eat anymore. But I will keep trying. All I know is that we love Josie and she is a joy to be around. I think she is starting to become a little comedian- most likely again from her daddy! Happy 9 months birthday Josie!

Cory's Birthday!

Cory had his 27th birthday on August 26th. I really wanted it to be special for him. I mean 27 isn't a special number but I can't help but feel bad because of all the changes that we have done this summer. I didn't want Cory to feel shafted just because he has a stay at home wife and our income was literally been cut in half. I also wanted him to know that I really appreciate him and love him.

So back in July I non-sholantly told Cory to circle everything he would want in his dirt bike magazine. ha ha. I know it wasn't the most sly thing I've done but hey it worked. So I got him a bunch of dirt bike junk- he loves it, and Joslyn bought him a remote control helicopter. He has had his eye on it since Christmas.

I also thought real hard on how to celebrate his birthday. The only thing I could think of was him riding his dirt bike with friends and family. So just him and his brother Josh and friend Jeremie took off riding in Fall Creek. Apparently they went on a gnarly ride and got heat stroke- so basically they had the time of their life.

In Cory's family they make wacky cake for their birthday's. It is one of the most moist yummy chocolate cakes with peanut butter frosting on top. This is the only cake I have every made from scratch. ha ha. Well I wanted to jazz things up this year so I made his wacky cake but I attempted to make it look like a guitar since he plays the guitar. ha ha I didn't know how to do a dirt bike and this was the easy route. Well I think I nailed it cause I took pictures of Cory from Sun up to Sun down and he was smiling in all the pictures!

I love you babe!

August 23, 2010

7 and 8 months

I promise to be better. Not necessarily for the rare folks that actually look at my blog, but for our family records. I need to keep track of the mile stones in Josie's life cause I know I will forget about it later. So here are the up dates:

7 months:
Josie has been trying to crawl. She gets in the crawl position but then goes flat on her tummy. Cory taught her to wrinkle her nose. She passes toys or any object from one hand to the other.

8 months:
Josie now is able to crawl backwards (meaning her movements are her getting further away from you rather than closer) and she can get from her stomach to a sit position. She loves Elmo and will clap her hands for joy and is trying to start to wave her hands.

I don't have any stats for height, weight, IQ (just kidding), etc. because her next doctors appointment is during her 9 months check up. Time really has gone by way too fast. I feel like my daughter is such a big girl. She loves to try and mimic whatever mom and dad are doing. Forget the baby food she wants chicken alfredo, or mac and cheese. ha ha. I know I am so partial but it seems like the older she gets the more beautiful she gets. It may be that she is getting more features or that I'm seeing her personality mixed with what she looks like. But I just can't but think WOW every time I see her. okay enough bragging form the mom. I love you Josie!

Adjustments

So I haven't been good about blogging as well as other things this summer. It just seems that I've been super busy with work or with Family that I just keep thinking "oh summer will last forever, I will eventually go visiting teaching, or do that project, or start working out, etc". Well its August and time is gone and I still haven't done a lot of things.

oh where to begin!

Well I had family on and off for about a month in a half. I love seeing family but it really threw my schedule off. So it took some time adjusting back to the rhythm of the Sayre
household once they all left. My Sister Amberlyn Stayed while her son was visiting his dad in Cedar City, My Brother Dallas came to visit me so he could see his new niece and date as much as possible. My Aunts Jo Jo and Janet came by a couple times (My House is the official pit stop). So i got to see a ton of family which was great!
Cory's Grandpa Owens Past away. It wasn't completely unexpected but you always think you will get another visit with them. It was sad because he past away the day after their Family Reunion. Everyone was able to see him one last time except Cory and me. Cory had to work that whole weekend and couldn't get it off. I wish we would have tried harder now. But Cory and I were able to drive down to California for his funeral. It was neat because I was able to meet so many people that I hadn't seen ever in their family. Heck Cory hadn't met them either! Cory's Grandpa decided to be cremated for cost purposes, and that was the first service with a cremated body that i had ever attended. Very different but simple. It was a nice quick trip!
I put my Two Weeks at Melaleuca- August 9th was my last day of work. I have to tell you that this was a big shocker! I was planning on working no problem, but the last two trips to the temple I had these strong feelings that I need to be trusting and relying on Cory more and to support him in his dreams and goals! I didn't really know what that meant except be a really good cheerleader. I kept it to myself at first but than I had a talk with Cory and told him about my trips to the temple, and he said that I better put my two weeks in. I was shocked that that was the answer. I didn't really believe I was going to be giving my two weeks at work but that next sunday Cory announces to everyone in our Sunday school class that I was quitting. I was shocked because I hadn't even told work and here he was telling everyone. So needless to say I had to quit after that announcement. I slept awful the night before trying to figure out how I was going to tell people at work. As soon as my boss got in I asked if I could talk to him.. and the rest is history. Now right after I gave my two weeks I wanted to renege my resignation. Our Washer was leaking, our water heater broke, the projector exploded, and the service engine light went on in the car. But I stuck it out, and left a great job, position, friends, and company after 4 years.

Cory and his dad climbed the Grand Teton. Cory has wanted to do this trip for a long time. At first he was going to climb it after he graduated from his Nursing degree, but he got right into a job and didn't have time to climb. Then he planned a trip last year and due to weather the trip was cancelled. Now this year he planned a trip with his dad. Four people backed out of the trip. I don't know if all the deaths this years scared them or if they had other engagements to attend, but their trip wasn't going to happen unless they could get some more in their group. The week before to guys from the hospital joined in on a whim. One from the ER and one from Radiology. Cory's dad wanted to do the trip in two days which meant they gad to not only bring their climbing gear but their packs as well. Cory got 500 feet from the summit when his dad had hit the wall. So Cory's new focus was to get his dad off the mountain safely. I am so proud of both of those guys. Cory says that next time he goes he wants to do it in a day and not bring his pack.

Sayre Family reunion in Lava Hot Springs. Let's just say our camp spot was the most windy and most busy traffic for trains in the planet. ha ha. the sleep wasn't the best but it was fun to be with family. Cory has been spoiled to be living near all his brothers. Casey the brother right above Cory decided to further his education and attend Washington State, which is just 20 minutes outside of Idaho. So that was the last time we got to see their cute family before they headed out.

And now to the current times. Now I'm trying to adjust being a stay at home mom. I'm trying to figure out a house routine with laundry, and de-cluttering, writing out a calendar of meals to cook. I know crazy right?! I'm very much a goal orientated and task person, so i'm trying to tie that into my new role in life so its not too mundane. Course watching after my new 8 month old keeps me plenty busy. Lately I've decided that I'm not waking up anymore at night, so I'm trying the cry tactic. I started when Cory started his night shifts so hopefully he will notice a difference once he isn't working nights. It really only took one night of Crying (Sorry Edwards) and then she has been pretty good. She keeps waking up at 6:20AM and so I feed her then. But at the same time I've been trying to slowly up her bed time in 1/2 hour increments. Tonight I got her down at 8:00 PM. Joslyn really is a good baby and is easy to care for. I love her so much. I especially love her more now that I'm getting some sleep.

Well that is all the adjustments and updates in the Sayre household. I will try to be more on top of things now that I'm a stay at home mom. Hopefully at least! :)

Come to the Hearing about the Windmills TONIGHT!

Anyone who is a resident of Bingham County come to the hearing tonight. I know we are all busy, but we need to voice our opinions on what we love in our neck of the woods. My friend just created an awesome website that goes over the facts on the the Windmills, and Wolverine Canyon. visit: http://www.savebinghamcounty.com

Please invite everyone you know that lives in Bigham County TONIGHT at 7:00 PM at the Court house in Blackfoot rm. 1.

Hope to see some familliar faces!

Come to the Hearing about the Windmills in Wolverine Canyon Wed. Night at 7:00PM

I was invited to go to a meeting at work Monday night that would include Frank Vandersloot speaking to any of his employees that live in Bingham County over the matter of Wolverine Canyon and the Windmills.

I was excited to hear Frank speak because he is so good at public speaking but I also wanted to know more about the windmill issue because I honestly hadn’t heard much about it except that it was probably going to be happening.

First of all I am not opposed to Windmills. But I learned some things that made me un-happy and I hope doesn’t happen. For one- the Windmill Company was doing some things that were illegal and the Judge told them they couldn’t do some things like go and build wherever they wanted to because of zoning laws, agricultural resource laws, etc. So the Windmill Company said they will just change the law. Right now they are in their 14th edition of the new ordinance hearing (I had not even heard of the 1st hearing). If nobody in Bingham County (meaning the people) then this will get approved and then could potentially become a law. So if this gets approved as a new law it will not only affect Bingham County but all of Idaho.
Now I’m not an expert, but I do know that I like riding my dirt bike through Wolverine canyon, and Cory likes hunting out there; heck we like to drive through and do mini hikes out there. If the windmills are approved we won’t be able to do any of that and neither will anyone else. In fact if the new law gets passed we could be potentially seeing Windmills in the future out by Island Park, the Grand Tetons. Which I absolutely do NOT want that to happen. Idaho is a beautiful state and I appreciate the natural beauty. I don’t want it to look like Wyoming. I don’t know, but I don’t think Windmill being a Green concept is correct when we would be replacing our forest with metal towers.

There was a ton more that I learned at that meeting but for anyone who wants to learn more for themselves you can see the new ordinance at: www.co.bingham.id.us/PZ

The Hearing for this will be at the Court House in Blackfoot Wednesday Night (7/21/2010) at 7:00 PM. If you don’t have any plans and you live in Bingham County please come. I would hate for all the windmills to come up and then the people to voice their opinions when we have the potential to stop it before it starts.

Josie is 6 months old!

today josie turned 6 months old. today we went to jc penney's to take her pictures rather than from my crapy camera. they did a really good job, but josie didn't seem too thrilled with the guy and woudn't really smile, which is funny because she smiles all the time for everyone else. here is a sneek peek on her pictures.. hopefully in 2 weeks i'll have my prints done so i can pass the out to family! Enjoy!

Here are her stats:
  • head circumference: 16 1/4
  • height: 25 inches
  • weight: 13 pounds 7 oz.

She has just started to sit all by herself. She gets a little wobbly at times but she loves to sit than to be held. I think it's the beginning of her independence! She hates getting too many kisses now. I think the mixture of me wiping her nose anytime it's runny or the excessive kissing from her Aunt Amberlyn, but she does not like people up in her face bubble! ha ha. she is now really starting to eat a lot of a variety of baby food as well as items off of our plates. She loves otter pops!

Happy Fathers Day!

This has already been a fun and busy month. My sister has come to stay with me most of this month and part of July. As soon as she got here we found out that she got limes disease. ha ha.. if it weren't for bad luck she wouldn't have any luck at all. It isn't contagious but she has been on medicine to get rid of it and it hasn't been making her feel very well.
(This is what a limes Disease rash looks like- bulls-eye)

Cory has been keeping up with his soccer whenever he gets a chance. He's been missing a lot of games lately due to work. But last Monday he finally got to play a game. He was super pumped; especially since the World Cup is playing. So he played in a game and was doing awesome. But one of the guys on the other team couldn't keep up with Cory so he decided to cleat him. That makes me more mad that anything else. It's just a game. I'm competitive and all, but why deliberately try to hurt someone just for a game. So Cory has been super sore and has some nasty bruising going on.

(the next day after Cory got cleated)

Today is Fathers Day. Cory's big present was that we upgraded his 250 to a KX 450F. He loves it and has already gone riding with it a couple times. But I wanted to give him something tangible on the actual Fathers Day. So Josie, Brom, and I did some pictures of us with letters spelling out DAD. Cory loved it. I hope Cory knows how much we love him and adore him. He really is a fantastic dad. I know he's only been a dad for 6 months know, but he is great with not only his own kid, but all kids. Happy Fathers Day Hun!

Joslyn is 5 months old!

Josie turned 5 months old on May 22nd! I can't believe how much she has grown. Already I feel like she is getting too heavy to carry in her car seat and she still is a tiny thing. I don't have any real stats because her next doctors appointment will be in June. But these are some of her favorites
  • eating rice cereal
  • rolling over
  • playing in her jumper thing on the door
  • spit bubbles
  • making vibrating noise from her mouth
  • grabbing her toes
  • sucking her thumb
  • and playing with her dad
she is such a joy to be around, and i love her so much!

May 24, 2010

things you learn about

So Cory and I are new parents. And with that we gets to experience things together. Such as... What to buy, and where to buy.

1) we new Joslyn liked riding in the car so we decided to buy this really cute portable swing from Target. It's very gender neutral, and is outdoorsy looking. So we saw it and bought it on a whim without doing any research on it. we had to buy weird size huge expensive batteries, but Joslyn loved it. then one day it stopped working. We figured oh, its out of batteries, so we go to target and buy more random sized expensive batteries. We put it in and it still doesn't work. We have only used it maybe two months and now its just a swing chair that you have to push to make it swing. LAME!

2) i bought a really cute play mat from target (online). It wasn't available in the stores. Again very gender neutral but way trendy looking. I really bought it because it had a giraffe toy that played music. Well when I got it the giraffe didn't play music. I called Target and they couldn't do anything for me because it was a hot item and so i could either return it or they could give me a $5 credit. I took the credit, called infantino and they wrote down my information and sent me a replacement giraffe that played music within a week. oh and two weeks later I ended up getting fraud on my bank account and they asked if I had done any online shopping.. only target.com

3) I think Josie might be teething. She still is a pretty good baby, but she has been drooling a lot, bites on everything, chews to soothe and only one night the only thing that comforted her was baby oragel, but ever since she has been normal. So I decided to buy some baby oragel and baby teething tablets rather than borrow my friends. Well I was soo excited to go to Toys-R-Us and buy all my babys needs: 1st time veggie purees, baby teething tablets, baby oragel, etc. Well, i found out that i paid $1.48 for baby food at toys-R-Us that cost only .48 at Wal-Mart and when i came home the baby teething tablets were not in the box. Somebody must have shop lifted and I was the shmoe that bought and empty box.

So the moral of this story... research your items before purchasing rather than buying a whim, go directly to the manufacturer because target.com customer service sucks, check your boxes before buying anything especially if they seem oddly light, and last wal-mart is usually cheaper. I guess you have to go through these kinds of things to be a parent helps us become wise i guess.

scary times

I don't mean to offend anyone at all by this post... but lately divorce has been on my mind. Before everyone panics.. it's because so much has been going on around me and it scares me. I have friends from church, work, family that they are going through divorces right now or just went through it.

i talk to cory about it all the time, because my heart is so sad when i hear another marriage didn't last and I can't help but think Satan is winning right now. i feel like i need to be a better mom, and a better wife, and i should read my scriptures more and pray and go to the temple more just to try and avoid this plague of divorce.

i pray for those that are going through this trial especially when children are involved. and i just hope and pray that my marriage can last during these times that satan is working so hard to make sure that it wont.

Sorry for the super long blog post!

So this will be a long blog post.. you can go to a different friends blog now if you want. ha ha. No.. it's just that May has been a super busy month already. May 1st we decided to start giving Josie some rice cereal. That lasted about 3 days, and she just didn't seem too into it, so I think we will try again this week or the next.

Then Graduations and Mothers Days just popped up out of nowhere. I seriously spent the whole weekend looking like a chicken with my head chopped off. Cory was working that entire weekend too. My mom graduated with her Associate degree at TCC on May 7,2010. I wanted to fly home to Oklahoma to support her on her big day, but my dad told me not too. I regret listening to him. My parents came to my high school and college graduation and I'm so proud of my mom. I really wish I could have been there. The next day May 8, 2010 Cory's brother Casey graduated at ISU from the Pharmacy program. It was really cool to see someone graduating with that much schooling under their belt. I've never been to a doctorate degree ceremony. And of course I didn't think to get a present for either of these grads. I'm so horrible.

The next day was Mothers day. I went crazy trying to get my mom's and mother in laws brag books together. You may think oh thats simple. Well it's not when you spend 8-9 hours a day at work, spend half the day pumping or feeding a baby, spend 3 hours a day to play with your kid, and 1-2 hours a day to clean up and get ready for bed the next day. So I had to neglect some cleaning in order to get two brag books done and mailed in time. I thought they both turned
out pretty cute, but not because of me, but because I have such dang cute nieces and nephews
that i got to put in the book.

Oh yea.. My first ever being a mom on mothers day- Well lets just say... Cory worked all weekend long. ha ha. Actually he has worked every single Mothers Day since we have been
married (4 yrs). So i'm use to not having him on Mothers Day. But he did do something cute for me, and I ruined it. I told Cory that all I wanted for Mothers Day was flowers that I could plant in front of our house. Well he woke me up at 6:15 AM and said Happy Mothers Day and handed me my card and present. My present was a membership at Massage Envy and I get 6 1 hour massages. I know you are all probably like - wow he hit the jack pot there on that one. But I looked at it and was like oh. Cory looked at me and was like you don't like it. So i spent the rest of the day trying to figure out how I can re-do that whole moment over and again and let Cory know that I loved it. Needless to say he wouldn't let me back peddle at all. ha ha. But I have used up one of my massages and it was great!

Next Josie went to her first ever friend birthday party. Jaislyn Robbins turned 3 and invited josie to her Princess Birthday Party. It was so cute. Her mom went all out, making a castle cake, decorated burger king crowns for everyone, played pin the kisses on the frog. It was amazing. Sorry Josie I don't think your parties will ever be that nice. ha ha.
Last but not least.. today is my birthday. Cory is not working this weekend so I get him for myself. That right there means it's already great birthday. But he has already made me breakfast in bed (a large cheese, hame, bell pepper, and onion omelet), and some sausage links, and a large glass of orange juice. It was great! He has already baked me a cake, and is going to take me out to a nice dinner tonight, and the whole family is going to a drive in movie to watch Iron Man 2!. Thanks hunny you are the best! So I would have to say it's been a crazy month, but a fun one too.
